Solidarity Statement

As marches and protests continue in all corners of our country, Faith Alliance of Metro Atlanta (FAMA) joins virtually and in-person with whole-hearted support. We decry the deliberate and shameful murder of Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and George Floyd as well as the countless people of color in America who have been victims of the injustice that includes police brutality and hateful vigilante behavior. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and communities of those directly affected by these tragedies.

FAMA remains committed to our mission of promoting understanding, interaction, and unity to advance the influence of diverse voices for the common good. We pledge to support our community’s fight against the institutionalized, systemic racism that has been ingrained in our society as we work to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and equity everywhere and at all times.

We urge support for the passage of the HB 426 Hate Crimes Bill in the Georgia Senate to ensure that any individuals guilty of crimes motivated by bias will receive appropriately harsh sentencing.

We believe hatred of the other destroys our community, and we call on public officials and law enforcement to prioritize the mending of our torn social fabric. We invite others to join FAMA in our efforts to help repair the blessed community that is Atlanta.
